Face Your F.E.A.R.

November 27, 2017 By WKC Law

face everything and rise

Attorney Rick Howard recently participated in the “Where Are You Taking Your Business” seminar presented by Univest and the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.

During his portion of this breakfast program, Rick spoke to the choice presented by “F.E.A.R.” Business owners are faced with a choice to Forget Everything and Run or Face Everything and Rise. It’s important to face business fears and concerns head-on before they grow into larger problems.

Proactive vs. Reactive

Current events have put cybersecurity on the minds of many business owners and consumers alike. A KPMG survey showed that only 55% of businesses had spent capital on cybersecurity. Why? There are likely many reasons. Perhaps companies think it’s too costly to engage that level of protection, or perhaps business owners think it could never happen to them.

Consider the ramifications of not facing a business challenge while it’s still a relatively small, manageable problem. The recent data breach at Yahoo, for instance, which occurred after the announcement that Verizon would be buying the company. Because of the unknown extent of the breach and its lawsuits, Yahoo’s purchase price was devalued to $350 million less than the original agreement.
