Our firm has an amazing administrative team. Yesterday we celebrated them and their contributions in honor of Administrative Professionals’ Day. Thank you!
The Weber Kracht and Chellew Word of the Month: Thrive
Our Word of the Month for April is “thrive.” It’s appropriate for this time of year when, despite the fact that winter seems to want to overstay its welcome, flowers and trees are coming to life. We’re reminded that we too might need to take a moment and adjust our focus. Maybe it’s a need to lift our heads up from our desks and to do lists, our problems and concerns, to look out the window and choose to thrive.
This poem by Tony Hoagland conveys this very well:
The Word
Down near the bottom
of the crossed-out list
of things you have to do today, between “green thread”
and “broccoli,” you find
that you have penciled “sunlight.”Resting on the page, the word
is beautiful. It touches you
as if you had a friendand sunlight were a present
he had sent from someplace distant
as this morning—to cheer you up,and to remind you that,
among your duties, pleasure
is a thingthat also needs accomplishing.
Do you remember?
that time and light are kindsof love, and love
is no less practical
than a coffee grinderor a safe spare tire?
Tomorrow you may be utterly
without a clue, but today you get a telegram
from the heart in exile,
proclaiming that the kingdomstill exists,
the king and queen alive,
still speaking to their children,—to any one among them
who can find the time
to sit out in the sun and listen.“The Word” is excerpted from Tony Hoaglands collection of works, Sweet Ruin.
What does “thrive” mean for you?
The Weber Kracht and Chellew Word of the Month: Embrace
Our Word of the Month for March is: Embrace.
Embrace. To “hold (someone) closely in one’s arms, especially as a sign of affection.”
Taking the word’s meaning a bit farther, to embrace is also to “accept or support (a belief, theory, or change) willingly and enthusiastically.”
In today’s world, when we’re faced with the issues and circumstances of life, “embrace” can be the last thing we want to do. Sometimes, however, a small shift in perspective or reaching out to ask for help can be all we need to embrace the challenges we meet.
What does “embrace” mean for you this month?

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Weber, Kracht & Chellew
They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, so no matter how – or whether – you’re celebrating we wish you the luck of the Irish today and every day.
St. Patrick’s Day does have significant meaning to our own Rick Howard. Did you know that he’s a Civil War history buff? When he’s not practicing law, one of his favorite pastimes is his participation in The 69th PA Irish Volunteers, a Civil War reenactment group.
Their website explains the history of these soldiers and the mission of the group today:
During the American Civil War, the lads of The 69th PA Irish Volunteers fought in every campaign with the Army of The Potomac. From 1861 to 1865 they were in the midst of almost every major battle. These men, mostly born in Ireland, fought under their green battle flag to save the Union. Today, we reenactors honor their memory by participating in living history programs, parades, gravesite ceremonies, history trips, music programs and battle recreations.
The 69th PA Irish Volunteers most recently participated in Philadelphia’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 12.
