2017 Five Alarm 5K Raises $6,000 for Perkasie Volunteer Fire Company and Firefighter Scholarships

December 12, 2017 By WKC Law

The results are in from this year’s Five Alarm 5K and Two-Mile Fun Run! Thanks to the efforts of 72 runners, 28 business sponsors, 26 raffle prize donors, and many volunteers, $6,000.00 was raised as a result of the November 4 event.

We recently had the pleasure of joining our event co-presenters — Bucks County Community College’s Upper Bucks Campus and  Sisters U — to present the proceeds.  The Perkasie Volunteer Fire Company received $5,400.00, which they will use to buy accessories for the BullEx BullsEye portable fire extinguisher training unit they purchased with the 2016 Five Alarm 5K proceeds. The Bucks County Community College Foundation received $600.00 for firefighter scholarships.

“We’re grateful for the initiative and generosity of the presenting organizations,” said Brian Irvin, Perkasie Fire Company president. “This is the second year that they’ve come to us with the desire to do something for the fire company. These funds will definitely be put to good use.”

The Five Alarm 5K is a timed race, with timing services provided by Pretzel City Sports. Stephanie Savastano repeated her win in the Women’s category with a time of 20:39. Ethan Saville’s run time of 17:08 earned the overall top spot in the Men’s category.
